80…AND AWESOME!
The Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert, proud owners of the Historic USO Building on Ridgecrest Blvd., is opening its doors to all of us this Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. This is your chance to see the former USO Club of Ridgecrest, which was built during World War II and opened its doors to a very small Ridgecrest and NOTS community in 1945. It’s been a center of community activity and enjoyment ever since.
Also open for your viewing pleasure will be Ridgecrest’s first Fire Engine houses, its first Firehouse, and its first Jail (some of you may already be familiar with it!). Also open will be a one-room schoolhouse built in Old Isabella in 1905, which made its way over the following 120 years to the Society’s property and restored to its 1905-look, and used to create our region’s Veterans Memorial Building. Come and enjoy our town’s history!
On this very special day, only, our Bookstore will be offering 90% discount on selected merchandise!
Also, on Wednesday, October 15, at 12:00 Noon, there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the Historic USO Building on Ridgecrest Blvd, celebrating the building’s 80 years of serving ur community! Come down and be a part of the ceremony…and local history!
