CLASSIC MOVIE NIGHT at the Historic USO Building

On Wednesday, December 18 at 7:15 p.m., Classic Movie Night presents its final film presentation for 2024 with famed director, Ernst Lubitsch’s 1940 holiday classic from MGM, starring Margaret Sullivan, James Stewart and Frank Morgan. The film is about two employees (Sullivan and Stewart) working at a general/leather goods shop owned by Mr. Matuschek (Morgan) in pre-World War II Budapest. The two can barely stand each other, but do not realize that they are falling in love with each other as anonymous correspondents through their letters.

The Snappy script, crisp direction and a brilliant supporting cast that includes: Joseph Schildkraut, Felix Bressart, William Tracy, Sara Haden, Inez Courtney and Charles Smith briskly move the action along in this delightful perennial yuletide favorite. The film was re-made in 1998, with a computer twist, “You’ve Got Mail,” featuring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. This older version is not to be missed!
