Mark Hoppus, leader of the internationally acclaimed band blink-182, was born and raised in Ridgecrest, graduated from Burroughs High School, went to Cerro Coso Community College for a couple of years, and worked at John’s Pizza before going off to find his life’s work. Mark’s life’s work became his being a founder of a Grammy-nominated and world-touring band that has captivated growing audiences for 30 years.

Mark wrote a memoir — entitled Fahrenheit-182 — that starts with his life growing up in the high-desert community of Ridgecrest, goes through his years of growing and touring with the greatest-band-of-all-time, his battles with various band dynamics and tragedies, and his victory over cancer. That memoir has reached the height of being the No. 1 best-seller in the New York Times list.
