MOVIE MATINEE: Sunday, August 30 at 2 pm.

A lovely movie…for everyone!   Enjoy a pleasant afternoon family film experience on Sunday, August 30 at 2 pm.  Our thrifty Snack Bar opens at 1:30 pm.  The Historic USO Building is refreshingly cool for your viewing comfort!

Our feature film is a 1995 period romantic drama film starring Keanu Reeves, Giancarlo Giannini, Angélica Aragón, Evangelina Elizondo, Debra Messing and Anthony Quinn. An international co-production film between the United States and Mexico, it was an English-language remake of the 1942 Italian film Four Steps in the Clouds.

Released  1995,  it was a commercial success, grossing $91 million against a $20 million budget. Maurice Jarre’s musical score earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.

The film, which takes place in Northern California’s vineyards in the months immediately following World War II, tells the tale of a young couple who meet during a difficult period in their life, decide to pretend to be married, and fall deeply in love just as the charade is about to fall apart. The story skillfully builds one obstacle to their happiness after another, allowing us to celebrate each one’s fall before becoming even more concerned with the next. Additionally, it places their narrative in an incredibly beautiful setting.
